Age: 47
Occupation: Nail Technician
Which class time do you usually attend? Always 6 a.m.. Occasional Saturday free class.
How long have you been CrossFitting? January 2017 (intro camp).
How did you find CrossFit i1uvit? My wonderful client Kaylee Lovelady convinced me to try it after hearing I moved to the county from Bellingham.
What is your athletic/fitness background (if applicable)? High School sports and co-ed sports as a young adult. As well as kickboxing. After moving to Bellingham 11 years ago I decided I needed to "learn" to run (everyone I seemed to meet was a runner). I joined Bellingham Fit and learned to love running. I have ran numerous 1/2 marathons as well as 15k,10k and 5k's.
Favorite WOD: I really love the Hero WOD's. Hearing the story of a soldier's life and sacrifice for our country is humbling to say the least.
Favorite lift or movement: Defiantly Deadlifts.
Least favorite WOD. Any WOD that combines Burpees with running.
Least favorite lift or movement: I don't really have a least favorite because I consider everything an opportunity to get better. The most challenging for me is a snatch anything and strict pull-ups.
Favorite quote: " No great thing is created suddenly"
Favorite “guilty pleasure” food: Nachos!!!
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, and/or level of fitness? Not only am I stronger physically but mentally.
I have learned a deeper level of discipline in life from nutrition to getting proper sleep. I tend to be a very shy/quiet person in group settings. Being in such a positive environment has been helping me overcome some of that shyness.
Who or what motivates/inspires you to keep coming back? Myself....I never thought being in my later 40's with no gymnastics or weightlifting background I could in a million years do some of the stuff I've learned. I look forward to each new week of programming to see what else I can do!
What is your proudest CrossFit achievement? T2B
Name one goal you are working for and would like to achieve through CrossFit? I have a long list but to name just one would be to do double-unders consistently.
Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit? CrossFit is my hobby.... . Any extra time otherwise is dedicated to time with my husband, adult children and numerous grandchildren. Hiking, running and walking with my dogs any chance I have.
Any advice for new members? Discipline yourself to showing up as much as possible! From there your possibilities are endless!!
Any additional thoughts/shout-outs/comments: I am so grateful that Kaylee "strongly encouraged" me try CrossFit. Self-doubt is such an enemy and I have battled this throughout my time at i1uvit. It has been through the encouragement of the amazing coaches and 6 am'ers I have grown and I am so thankful!
