Age: 35
Occupation: Stay at home Mom
Which class time do you usually attend? 9:30 with an occasional evening class mixed in
How long have you been CrossFitting? I am not sure exactly but maybe 4 or 5 years with a couple of (kids) breaks in the middle :-)
How did you find CrossFit i1uvit? My friend Robin talked me into coming to a free Saturday class with her
What is your athletic/fitness background (if applicable): I wasn't involved in sports in school but I started running in my 20's and tried a few different gyms and boot camp classes before joining i1uvit.
Favorite WOD: Chippers, partner workouts, EMOM's, and Tabata
Favorite lift or movement: Overhead squats
Least favorite WOD: I am probably the only person in the gym that doesn't enjoy doing 1 rep maxes
Least favorite lift or movement: Wall balls
Favorite quote: “If you don't like something, change it; if you can't change it, change your attitude.”
Favorite “guilty pleasure” food: Ice cream and cookies, or pretty much any dessert
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, and/or level of fitness? CrossFit has become my time for myself each week, it is a stress reliever for me. I used to skip certain days if I didn't think I would like the workout or if the WOD scared me, but now I always go on my scheduled days and have realized I always feel better afterwards.
Who or what motivates/inspires you to keep coming back? My two year old asks to go to the gym pretty much every morning so it helps that he loves the childcare (Thank you Sydney, you're the best!) All of the friendly faces I get to work out with have been inspiring and motivating to see them reach goals, set PR's, and push and motivate me to do better as well.
What is your proudest CrossFit achievement? When I finally got my first toes to bar
Name one goal you are working for and would like to achieve through CrossFit: I would like to get a strict pull up and also work on getting stronger on all of the barbell movements
Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit: Reading, going on walks and hiking, hanging with family
Any advice for new members? Just show up, have fun, and compete with yourself.
Any additional thoughts/shout-outs/comments: Thank you to all of the coaches, you have been so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. You all have been able to challenge me when I am unsure of my capabilities, and also modify movements without making me feel ashamed about what I am not able to do.
