Occupation (in addition to coaching at i1uvit):
Currently, I am an executive assistant for All Nations Consulting. My previous position was working at the Nooksack Indian tribe for 9 years where I was a fitness instructor and managed the fitness program.
Where did you go to school? What did you study?
I attended Northwest Indian College and completed my Associates Degree in Environmental Science
What coaching credentials do you have?
Level 1 & 2 CrossFit certification. Previously, I have attended other training sessions for olympic lifting and powerlifting, personal trainer certification under the Native American Fitness Council.
How long have you been CrossFitting?
10 Years! (Since 2013)
What is your athletic/fitness background?
I grew up traveling with my family during the summers, on what we call the “powwow trail” and danced until I was 19 or 20yrs old. I started canoe paddling when I was 7 and “retired” around 30 years old. As a canoe racer I have competed twice in the World Sprints for outrigger races, once in Hawaii, and again in New Zealand. Distance races are not really my jam, except for one race in New York. The Liberty Challenge, 15 miles in the Hudson. I’ve competed there 3 times, with three different crews, and we’ve always placed 3rd or above in our category. I started CrossFit 10 years ago to help with my off season of paddling, and have been here since then.

How has CrossFit changed your life/lifestyle/level of fitness?
CrossFit and the community has carried me through so many changes in my life. It has taught me to be kind and patient with myself, depending on the place I am that day or season of my life.
Who or what motivates/inspires you?
The community and the people that show up everyday are a huge inspiration. I love seeing people stay consistent, and I am so proud of them when I see their personal and physical growth.
What is your proudest CrossFit achievement(s)?
Receiving my CF Level 2 was a big deal for me. Also, coming back to coach after a long 2 year break was a big step. Juggling my work schedule, my children and home life was a challenge, but I’m so glad my family and full time job supported me in making it work.
Name one goal you are working to achieve through CrossFit?
To learn as much as I can from the amazing coaches we have at i1uvit. To be the most supportive coach, and help members achieve their goals.
Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit?
Our little family is always on the go. We follow my son Elias on his canoe racing circuit and during basketball season. It’s very rare that we are home on a weekend - we are either driving to Canada or Bainbridge to spend time with family.
Any advice for new members?
Be patient with yourself. Don't compare yourself to others. Some days are harder than others and on those days, it’s okay to just show up and move.
