Which class time do you usually attend? 9:30, 12, or 4:30 depending on the day
How long have you been CrossFitting? Almost 2 years
How did you find CrossFit i1uvit? I was looking for a good place for my mom to start CrossFit and remembered seeing all of Kaylee’s CrossFit posts, so I figured this was a great place to start. I started coming to keep my mom company but was hooked after the first class.
What is your athletic/fitness background (if applicable): Growing up I played just about any and every sport (mostly soccer). After college I picked up running and it’s kind of grown from there. I try to stay really active.
Favorite WOD: Any sort of chipper or anything with running.
Favorite lift or movement: Pull-ups because they are still such a challenge for me. I just want to keep getting better at them!
Least favorite WOD. The one that had wall balls AND thrusters
Least favorite lift or movement: Wall balls crush my soul
Favorite quote: “Your body can do almost anything, it’s your mind you have to convince”
Favorite “guilty pleasure” food: Chocolate chip cookies, pizza, and Cheetos
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, and/or level of fitness? From CrossFit I’ve learned that its okay to push myself a litter harder than I think I can go, even if I fail. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve failed something, the act of getting back up and trying again is making me stronger each time. Eventually I will get there because it’s a process. Cardio used to always be my workout of choice. I rarely used weights, and if I did then it was never more than 10lbs. I’m enjoying feeling strong and knowing that I’ve worked really hard to gain my muscles and every new PR!
Who or what motivates/inspires you to keep coming back? I am motivated by the constant challenge. No matter how I am feeling physically or mentally on any given day, there is always a way to challenge myself and work towards goals. Some days just showing up is a victory, other days I can work on my form, or push myself a litter harder than normal, and then there are PR days. I love that I’m challenged differently each day and can constantly work on getting better.
What is your proudest CrossFit achievement? My proudest CrossFit achievement so far has been battling through the open this year. Most weeks I thought I would do the scaled workout, but Coach Erica was not gonna have it! I usually didn’t think I’d be able to do any of the workout, but always finished so much farther than I thought I would. I was able to accomplish so many new moves or new PRs because of it.
Name one goal you are working for and would like to achieve through CrossFit? It’s hard to think of just one. I think my main goal right now is stringing together toe to bars and pull ups.
Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit? I love Jesus, my family, and the Mariners!
Any advice for new members? Don’t be afraid to start. It’s ok if you can’t do everything right away. The coaches are amazing at scaling workouts and finding something that works for you. And it’s ok to do everything scaled if that’s what it takes, everyone starts at different levels, but the important thing is that you start.
Any additional thoughts/shout-outs/comments: Thank you to all the coaches who have poured so much knowledge and time into helping me achieve my goals and encourage me to keep going, even when I didn’t believe those goals were attainable. Also, thank you for giving my boys an excitement for CrossFit and fitness. I love when they take the things they’ve learned from watching at the gym and spending time with coaches and put it all together for a pretty killer WOD at home.
