Age: 36

Occupation: 1st Grade Teacher

Which class time do you usually attend? Anytime between 4:00 and 5:00

How long have you been CrossFitting? 9 months!

How did you find CrossFit i1uvit? Initially Google...and then persuaded by Becky Pederson

What is your athletic/fitness background (If applicable) I've always been active with running, hiking and yoga. I practiced Bikram yoga for 6 years until a major injury. I got to a point where yoga just wasn't enough and that is what brought me to CrossFit.

Favorite WOD: 2 Mile Run, 50 Front Squats which followed the Front Squat strength sequence. I hated it so much, I loved it.

Favorite lift or movement: Squats of any kind

Least favorite WOD: 2RFT 20 Thrusters, 20 Pull Ups, 20 Wall Balls, 300 m Run

Least favorite movement: Burpees....

Favorite life quote: "Beauty fades, dumb is forever" -Judge Judy

Favorite “guilty pleasure” food: French bread, Brie, and fig jam with Diet Coke

How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness? CrossFit has not only gotten me into better shape, but it has overall made me more aware of my health. I am much more conscientious of what I put into my body. If I have a day where it is donuts, pizza and Diet Coke...boy do I feel it at CrossFit. It makes me want to take better care of my body in all aspects.

Who or what motivates/inspires you to keep coming back? Tandi's daily texts "What class tonight?" and Becky's looks in the hallways at school with "Are you going tonight?" Also, the overall community, encouragement and feeling I have after every W.O.D.

What is your proudest CrossFit achievement? Toes to Bar

Name one goal/personal achievement you would like to achieve through CrossFit: Adding the kipping to my Toes to Bar and my Pull Ups. I still feel like a grandfather clock at times...

Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit: I love being outside. Gardening or working on the property, having a bonfire, playing card/board games with friends and family, and of course a few Netflix shows.

Any advice for new members? Keep coming? At 3 months I really hit my stride. Be patient with yourself. One day things just click for certain movements. Some others just take time. That challenge and growth is part of the fun.

Any additional thoughts/shout-outs/comments? Thank you to the supportive community and coaches. I feel so welcome and encouraged every time I go!
