Age: 25
Occupation: Accounts Payable Clerk
Which class time do you usually attend? 5:30pm & the occasional 6am
How long have you been CrossFitting? Umm, I want to say on and off for 3 years?... mostly off 😅 but as soon as we start 2018's Open that'll mark one full year for me!
How did you find CrossFit i1uvit? Through Jogo! When Jogo closed I asked for their recommendation on a new gym and they said i1uvit.
What is your athletic/fitness background (if applicable): Um, I canoe pulled for a while in high school. But not much else.
Favorite WOD: The one I beat my brother Logan at rowing in, it had different stations with 15 burpees. Jk. Um I think I like Fran, DT, or Helton was actually kinda fun in a really... not fun/challenging way.
Favorite lift or movement: Squat clean!
Least favorite WOD: Remember that one with 2 min to finish so many cals on whatever cardio machine and then we had to get as many S2OH as we could with the remaining time? And if we didn't finish the cals or meters before the 2min cap we had to just keep going and pray we made it the next round to S2OH?... Yeah that one..
Least favorite lift or movement: Wallballs! And the assault bike
Favorite quote: "Don't compare your beauty to another's. Flowers are pretty, but so are Christmas lights and they look nothing alike" Or "When life gets hard, CrossFit harder"
Favorite “guilty pleasure food: ALL OF IT.. probably burgers and fries and chips. Chinese food.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, and/or level of fitness? Crossfit helps me become mentally stronger. I've never been good at pushing my limits, but with crossfit I break through mental barriers all the time and can push myself harder in an attempt to get more reps in the last 90 sec of a WOD instead of running out the clock with slow reps. But it mostly helps me overcome my depression. I always leave happier 😊
Who or what motivates/inspires you to keep coming back? Everyone inspires me! 😊 but mostly my siblings Celina and Logan. Also, the fact that I'm the strongest I've ever been and I'm not where I want to be yet motivates me.
What is your proudest CrossFit achievement? When I got my first pistol squats! Our brother told us he already got them first try and I got jealous. So I practiced them while cooking dinner until I finally got one. Then I did some more! I'm also still proud that I can do regular push ups. I've never been able to do those before.
Name one goal you are working for and would like to achieve through CrossFit? Overall it's to be able to do WODs at RX. But right now it's getting an unassisted pull up.
Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit: Umm, maybe reading, netflixing, playing video games. I like doing low key things if my friends don't make me go out and socialize.
Any advice for new members? Don't let yourself be discouraged to do the things you know you can't quite do yet/think you can't do. There's no shame in scaling and you'd be surprised at what you're capable of. Just focus on yourself, on what you can do, and being better than yesterday! Fall in love with the process and stay positive even if you didn't do as well as you wanted.
Any additional thoughts/shout-outs/comments: A big thank you to Matt and Kaylee and all the coaches for all the thoughtful/hard work you put in to programming the WODs, coaching the classes, and providing such an amazing gym that's so much more than just a place where people can fitness/get in shape. You provide a sanctuary away from whatever stresses we may be facing in our lives outside; a place where people can walk out feeling stronger/happier than when they walked in 😊❤💪
