Daisy Martinez

Age: Young at heart
Occupation: RN
Which class time do you usually attend? 12 or 4:30; sometimes 5:30 depends on the shift schedule and sleep I get.
How long have you been CrossFitting? I joined in May 2018
How did you find CrossFit i1uvit? Through Chris Pash's brother.
What is your athletic/fitness background (if applicable): During HS and college days, I used to play volleyball and soccer.
Favorite WOD: Any chipper WOD
Favorite lift or movement: I find it so difficult and challenging, but I like Snatch. I also like Rope climb. I feel like a kid when I see a rope hanging and just like to climb it. Just the thought of hanging on top of the rope for your dear life 😂 is exciting!
Least favorite WOD:  None.
Least favorite lift or movement: Burpees and Wall Ball
Favorite quote: "If you have been brutally broken but still have the courage to be gentle to other living beings, then you're a badass with a heart of an angel." - Keanu Reeves
Favorite “guilty pleasure” food: Spaghetti with meatballs, bacon or shrimp in red or white sauce.

How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, and/or level of fitness? It helped me become more focused in what is most valuable in the moment despite of disappointments, challenges and hurdles. It's never easy. I learned and still am continuing to learn the fact that - nothing is really easy. You have to have commitment to work hard in your goals. And just to keep your calm and breathe despite of the storm.

Who or what motivates/inspires you to keep coming back? The supportive, friendly, and warm community; and the coaches who are always willing to give a "pro tip" to help us able to do the workout efficiently and able to do more good and honest reps.

What is your proudest CrossFit achievement? It helps me become much stronger physically and mentally despite of feeling too sore sometimes - I still see myself just keep on going.

Name one goal you are working for and would like to achieve through CrossFit To become stronger, healthier and to have a really good endurance, so I can be able to do some movements or lifts that I have never done before (ie. HSPU, PU (strict and not), etc...)

Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit Not much. If I am not at CrossFit, I am either with my son, or sleeping, or at work. Maybe, sometimes I like to read or watch videos/documentaries that relates with medical stuff just to update my competencies once in a while.

Any advice for new members? Every accomplishment begins with a decision to try. Put aside all your fear and doubts. "Fear does not stop death. It stops life." and "Doubt kills more dreams than Failure ever will" ~K. Seddiki. And most of all, have Faith. Even if you don't see the results right away, honest work and commitment pay off, whether all you can give is 1% a day but if that is your best, something good will always come out of it. It applies to everything, whether it is towards strengthening your body or strengthening your soul. It is always a win-win.

Any additional thoughts/shout-outs/comments: Every movement and every moment that we can move is a blessing. I am so grateful and thankful to God Almighty, that He has blessed me with this kind of health, and that I am able to move the way I want - that I can do CrossFit, because there are others who can barely lift a finger. So, (I am) we are blessed. Let us make use of the time we are given wisely, to take care of ourselves the best way we can, so that we can help and continue to take care of others.

Last but not the least, thanks to Matt and Kaylee for your commitment in building a community that is very welcoming and so real. It keeps everyone's feet on the ground. I feel so blessed to be part of the community that is so strong and yet so humble.
